Behind the Brand
hinok

hinok (희녹, meaning "ever-green") is a Jeju-origin brand built on a single material principle: use what the forest lets go. Rather than starting with a formula and sourcing ingredients to fit it, hinok began with the island itself, working with the leaves and branches shed each year when Jeju's Hinoki Cypress forests are pruned for their health. The cypress grows in volcanic basalt and salt-carried wind, conditions found only on Jeju, and releases phytoncides, the same aromatic compounds that have drawn people to forest bathing, or sallimyok, for generations.
Branches pruned from roughly thirty-year-old trees in Ara-dong are steam-distilled with the Jeju Resource Plant Research Institute, and what remains afterward is composted back into the forest it came from. No trees are harmed, and nothing is wasted. That water, disclosed on every label and refillable across the line, carries into home and personal care formulas free of artificial fragrance, sulfates, and unnecessary plastic, letting the forest, rather than any added scent, define the brand.
