Founded by lifelong friends June Summerill and Bernadette Bishop, who opened the doors of their first shop on Clarendon Cross in Notting Hill on May 18, 1994. Both were devoted home cooks who couldn't find kitchen and tableware in London with any warmth to it, so they wrote a business plan on a café notepad and built the shop they wished existed. Bernadette's son, Seb Bishop, took over as CEO and Creative Director in 2014 following her passing, carrying the company forward with June. Their tablecloths remain the signature piece, sourced and printed on pure linen, meant to be the thing people gather around rather than just something under the plates.
