Caesar Leather & Gilt Brass Jewelry Box
An exquisite Italian jewelry box in aged leather with gilt brass detailing. The top features a relief profile of Nero Caesar, framed by gilt embossing, with two gilded brass knobs sculpted as clenched fists gripping rods. Resting on four turned brass feet, the base is lined in black moiré fabric.
Inside, a leather pocket stamped "Italy" sits within the lid, while the Tuscan gold velvet interior includes embossed leather dividers for rings and a spacious lower compartment for necklaces and keepsakes. The leather exterior shows a rich patina from time, with wear, darkening, and cracking. Brass hinges remain in excellent working order.
