18th Century Chinese Bronze Tripod Teapot
A lidded, tripod-footed bronze ewer in the archaistic tradition, likely Qing dynasty (18th–19th century). The pear-shaped body is encircled by fine, incised scrollwork recalling ancient taotie and leiwen patterns, with a short faceted spout, a zoomorphic handle, and a high cover finished with a flame-like finial. The metal shows a rich, mottled malachite patina from age and handling. The form closely follows early ritual wine vessels (he) of the Shang–Zhou prototypes, reinterpreted during the Qing revival of archaic bronzes for the scholar’s studio and domestic altar.
