Set of Four Graduated Green Spice Barrels
Early 20th century. A nested set of four wooden spice barrels, each painted in deep green with turned ridges and fitted metal liners. The lids sit with a subtle irregularity, evidence of handwork and long use. The paint has dulled to a matte finish, chipped in places where the barrels were lifted and stacked. What began as practical storage now carries the presence of a lived object.
