Egeo Frame
The Egeo began with Summertime, and the scene where Katharine Hepburn tumbles into a Venetian canal. Giberto wanted the blue of the city as he knew it as a boy, jumping off bridges and playing football in the campo, and found it in a velvet at Tessitura Luigi Bevilacqua. The velvet is set on a mahogany base and edged in hand-blown Murano glass canes. Stands horizontally or vertically. Each piece is handmade, so small variations are normal.
Giberto Venezia is the Venetian house of Giberto Arrivabene, whose family home is Palazzo Papadopoli on the Grand Canal. Working with Murano's glassblowers and the city's artisans, the house makes glass, stone and objects for the table drawn from Venice's decorative past. Through December 31, Giberto Venezia is in residence at No. 162 Wentworth.
