Highland Park Jalapeño Candle

Named for the Los Angeles neighborhood, this candle opens with a bright green crack of coriander seed, lemon zest, and oregano. Then the jalapeño arrives: not hot so much as herbaceous, the slow dry heat of chiles left to wrinkle in the sun. Thyme, eucalyptus, and resinous galbanum settle underneath, holding it in the last hour of a late summer afternoon, the hills going gold, something citrus still sharp in the air. Hand-poured in Los Angeles in non-GMO soy wax.
