T1 Okubo Garden Shears in Black
Same hand-forged form as the classic Okubo, made in Sanjo, Niigata by the Toyama family since 1861 — but here the blade is YSS Shirogami, a high-purity carbon steel used in premium Japanese cutting tools. It sharpens more readily than stainless and holds a keener edge. The handles are blackened through heat treatment in a dedicated furnace, no paint involved, which gives each pair a quietly distinctive, slightly industrial finish. Lighter than it looks. Built for precision pruning, bonsai work, and cut flowers.
Material: YSS Shirogami high-carbon steel
Dimensions: 7¾"L / 200mm
Weight: 215g
Blade length: 65mm
Maximum cutting capacity: 3mm at the tip, 8mm at the base
Care: Wipe clean and dry after every use — carbon steel will rust if left damp. Apply a light coat of blade oil when wiping. Store in a dry environment. Do not use on wire, dried material, bamboo, or frozen branches.
