The Hockley Heritage – Two Gallon

Haws has been making watering cans in Smethwick, West Midlands since 1886, and every metal can that leaves the workshop is still handmade. The Hockley Heritage is their outdoor classic: a two-gallon can pressed from hot-dip galvanised steel, its body cross-hatched in a lattice pattern that stiffens the form without adding weight. The silhouette is the "Peter Rabbit" style, instantly recognisable to anyone who spent time in a proper English garden. A removable all-brass rose threads onto the broad spout and delivers an even, generous spray; over time the brass will mellow to a warm patina unless polished. The ash top handle and smooth steel rear handle give you two points of control, so a full can swings without wobble. When the job's done, park the rose on the cross stay and hang the can in the shed.
