Venetian Strie Louis XV Style Commode
A two-drawer commode in the Louis XV manner, the case fitted with two generous drawers above a scalloped apron and raised on cabriole legs. The form follows the classic French Rococo commode vocabulary: gently curved front, shaped sides, and the scalloped lower apron that distinguishes the Louis XV style from the more restrained Louis XVI that followed. Small round knob hardware throughout.
The exterior is painted overall in a custom strie finish of pale blue and white, the glaze dragged diagonally across the case and legs to produce fine, fabric-like striations that shift direction at the drawer divisions.
